The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the first smartphone to include the Blackberry 6 operating system.  It comes complete with wide range business type software but you also get applications for social sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc.

There is a proper QWERTY keyboard that slides out and touch screen display that is high quality. You also get an optical trackpad which senses touch as well movement. The 5 megapixel camera also includes a flash (a welcome addition if you’ve ever tried taking pictures indoors with a phone without a flash) and you also get image stabilisation, auto focus and a camcorder.  There are various photographic modes to use for different events on the BlackBerry Torch 9800 Sim-Free Mobile Phone.

Battery life is crucial on these devices and there is 5.8 hours of talktime, 30 hours of music and 6 hours of video playback on this one.  That should be plenty for most people. Everything you expect from a Blackberry, and a touch screen too.

The screen rotates based on its orientation and there is an on-screen keyboard when text input is required. If you have a significant amount of text you will probably want to use the slide out keyboard. I’m surprised this slides out of the short side, rather than the long side to give larger keys, but as long as your fingers are reasonable nimble it works just fine.
